Umbrella Tennis

On Friday, April 4th, Umbrella Tennis will start its 2008 season from 6-8pm on courts 5 and 6 at Cuesta Tennis Center. These courts will be reserved every Friday until the end of September. This time is open to all MVTC members for drop-in casual doubles play. MVTC covers the court charge, so it's free for you! Please note that any CTC or USTA match scheduled on these courts will take priority, so we will not always have courts 5 and 6..

The rules are simple: first-come, first-served. At least one court is mixed doubles. Each foursome plays one no-ad set, then everyone moves around, giving preference to those who have been sitting out.

  1. First-come, first served
  2. Each group plays one no-ad set, then rotates in those waiting, or switches with players on the other court.
  3. Depending on who arrives, at least one of the courts should be mixed doubles
  4. Courts are not be be used for ladder matches or team practices
  5. Emphasis is on friendly, social play to help members meet each other

General Meetings

The Mountain View Tennis Clubs holds two dinner meetings during the year. The March meeting serves to get the ball rolling for the year and provides an opportunity to meet new members. The final meeting of the year, held in October or November, features the election of officers for the following year and special awards.

Social Events

Several social events are held during the tennis season. Parties provide an opportunity for members to become better acquainted, socialize, and arrange future matches. Theses parties are set for Saturday night of May and July tournaments.

Mountain View Open

The Mountain View Tennis Club helps support the Mountain View Open in May at Cuesta Park. This tournament attracts open tennis players from all over Northern California and beyond. Members are invited to volunteer and help produce this annual community event. During the Memorial Day weekend, family and friends can enjoy some great tennis along with food and
refreshment from the food tent. Admission is free to the general public. For more information, please visit the tournament's web site at: www.mvopen.com
