Standard
Ladder Program & Guidelines There are ladder divisions for Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles, and "Mixed" Singles & Doubles. These "Mixed" divisions will enable women/men to offically challenge each other for ladder recognition! There are no additional rules, except that you should choose before hand whether it will be 3 regular sets or 3 set's with a "match tie" break and the unspoken rule you should not challenge anyone below your NTRP rating! Guidelines for All Division: If you lose four consecutive matches in your division you will be placed 2nd from the top of the division below your present division. Only the player in the top position in any division can challenge players on the division above, except with the "wildcard" challenges. Henceforth, you are only able to challenge up to 5 slots above your position on the ladder. Please note however, we have added a new rule that will allow a player or team, after being placed on the ladder, to make two wild card challenges (challenge anyone on the ladder) per calendar year. There will be Divisions, as needed according to the size of the division and ntrp levels it contains. Singles division A will consist of 5.0 to upper 4.0 players, Division B will consist of Lower 4.0 to middle 3.5 players. For the doubles divisions it will be similarly divided. The purpose of the divisions are to give players to find a place with players closer to their ability This offer players a chance to "get to the next level". If a challenge is issued within a month of the same match-up that was played, the challenged person/team may refuse the challenge until a calendar month has elapsed. A challenge must be scheduled within two weeks of the challenge. Or the match is consider a default for the challenger and results in the challenger moving to the position above the defaulted opponent. This counts as a match played by the winner, but not by the defaulted opponent**. As much as possible, both players should agree to the default. The challenging opponent is responsible for supplying the tennis balls. Both sides will split the court and/or light fees equally. (If there are any) Be sure to report the match date, player names and scores on-line thru the MVTC website. ** Any person / team who has not played in a challenge match in four
months (marked with one asterisk for each month of inactivity on the ladders
below) will be dropped from the ladder.
