Guidelines and Rules

  • Diane Gazzano is the 2008 Spring SDL coordinator, in her absence another coordinator will be at each session to hand out balls, record scores and answer questions.

  • Each player has the responsibility to ensure that their point total is recorded on the score and court assignment sheet available at each session.

  • Each player will be responsible for checking the sheet for his or her court assignment before playing.

  • The session is held on courts # 5,6,7,8. All matches are played at the same time. New balls are provided each week.

  • 16 Players will be paired on the 4 courts and play first team to reach 6 games no-add set (i.e. 6-5 wins). A 7-point tie break at 5-5. Then you switch partners and play another 6 game set, until you have played with all the 3 other players. No-add rules, at deuce, receivers choice (man to woman is OK, etc.) next point is game point. If players do not finish the third set, then points are rounded up to a max of 6, i.e. 4-3, would become 6-5.

  • The 2 hour time limit is rigid and includes warm-up! There is only a 5-min. warm-up for the first match!!

  • The scoring is cumulative; add up all the number of games you won, this is your point total.

  • The first week will be an assignment to a court based on our perception of ability. At the end of the session the player with the most points on the court moves up a rank and court, the player with the least moves down a rank and court. Depending on substitutions/availability in the interest of insuring balance play and the social objective of SDL coordinator may adjust player/court assignments at any time during the 8 week session

  • A coin toss will decide who goes up or down on tie situations.

  • At the end of the SDL, a prize will be awarded to the top male and female players i.e. those with the most number of points.

  • If you cannot attend a Saturday there will be a list of subs for you to choose from. It is your responsibility to find a sub that can play in you place from the list or someone from the club within the correct NTRP level. Subs don't have to pay.
