Greetings!

Spring is around the corner and it’s a time for new beginnings. Welcome to the first MVTC tournament of the year. The MVTC March ‘15 Team Tennis tournament will be held at Rengstorff Park Courts Saturday, March 21st, 2015 from 8:30 AM to 4PM. Tournament directors are Madan Venugopal and Carol Tolen. Food Director Jill Nagahara.

The goals for this event are to have FUN, meet new friends and, of course, to compete for prizes.

The format will be mens, womens and mixed doubles. All levels of players and MVTC members and non-members are welcome.

The Team Tennis format implies that people will be pooled into teams, which will play multiple rounds against other teams. The size of the team will depend on the number of people who sign up. Four teams will play six rounds of 6 or 8 games. Each round will consist of a combination of mixed, and women’s doubles and mens doubles. Captains will be given a worksheet to plan how to assign your players. Captains will rotate partners from round to round, trying to have everyone play with different partners each time. This is an “equal play” event.

The size of the team will depend on the number of people who sign up. Each team keeps track of the number of games won and lost. The idea is to get people to play with and against multiple folks. This evens out the team strengths and adds some excitement to the outcome. The winners will get prizes.

We will potentially have two sessions AM and PM, based on the number of entries. You can indicate a preference to play in either or both sessions.

A continental breakfast will be available by ~8:15 AM; lunch will be served from noon to 1 PM; snacks and drinks will be available throughout the tournament.

The tournament fee for club members is $10 and for non-members is $12 and includes the lunch and a light breakfast mentioned above.

We have a limited time membership special. New members who are Mountain View residents can sign up for membership at a discounted rate of $10 till March 31st, 2015. Renewing Mountain View residents get a reduced rate of $20 also till March 31st, 2015. Renewing Mountain View residents can also add an adult family member (must be also a Mountain View resident) to the club membership at no charge. All applicants must fill in the membership form online or mail it in.
