  This tournament is open to MVTC members only. Hand deliver your self addressed and stamped "blue card" with your check to CUESTA Tennis Center (685 Cuesta Dr.) by Saturday March 15th noon. If you forget to stamp your card, you just "volunteered" to bring a salad or dessert! Give it to the attendant to be placed into the "tournament entry box." The card will be mailed back to you with your start time. Reminder: please do not mail your entry, we do not pick up entries at the post office. We post the draw sheets at Cuesta and Rengstorff, this is a good place to see the draw and view your start time, teammates, and opponents!

TEAM TENNIS SCHEDULE OF EVENTS FOR SATURDAY 4/5 (day two):

• Teams Alameda, Shasta, Inyo, and Ventura will play in the morning, starting at 7:45am.
• Teams Lassen, Napa, Marin, and Calaveras play in the afternoon, starting at 1:00pm.
• Captains* are asked to arrive 15 minutes early.
• Breakfast will be available at 7:30am. Lunch will be served from 12:00-1:00.

GUIDELINES FOR TEAM CAPTAINS:

Greetings!

Congratulations! You have been selected as a captain for the MVTC March Team Tennis tournament! If you are new to this task, your teammates can help you, or feel free to ask Patsy Duke or Kathy Nichols for advice. Here are the guidelines for the tournament:

The most important purposes of this event are to have FUN and meet new friends and, of course, to compete for trophies.

Four teams will play six rounds will from 8 AM to noon. The other four teams will play six rounds from 1 PM to 5 PM. Each round will consist of a combination of mixed, men's and women's doubles. You will be given a worksheet to plan how to assign your players. Pairings indicated by "+" should be played by stronger players and those by "-" by lower-ranked ones. No "stacking", please. Rotate partners from round to round, trying to have everyone play with different partners each time. This is an "equal play" event. No one should sit out more than twice.

An eight-game set (no-ad scoring) will be played in each round. One no-ad tiebreak (first team to five points) will be played if necessary. At 3-3 in the no-ad games and at 4-4 in the tiebreak, the receiving team will choose which partner will receive serve.

New balls will be used for rounds 1, 3, 5, and 7. Please LEAVE the balls on the court for rounds 2, 4, and 6. There will be a short break between rounds for Captains to meet to exchange lineups and record scores at the scoreboard.

The points for each round are cumulative. The top two morning teams from Sat 3/22 will play the top two afternoon teams on Saturday morning 4/5. The lower two teams from morning and afternoon will play on Saturday afternoon 4/5.

A continental breakfast will be available by ~7:30 AM; lunch will be served from noon to 1 PM; snacks and drinks will be available throughout the tournament.

A message to all MVTC Members who are participating in the March Team Tennis Event....

The second day of the Team Tennis Tournament wlll be held on Saturday, April 5th. The morning teams will be Shasta, Ventura, Alameda, and Inyo. Afternoon teams will be Lassen, Marin, Napa, and Calaveras. Morning teams should be at Rengstorff by 7:45am; Afternoon teams by 12:45pm. Lunch at 12:00. If you played on the first day, it is NOT necessary to register again. If you can't play on April 5, please email Patsy Duke (dukepat@att.net). If you didn't play on the first day, and would like to put your name on a sub list, email Patsy.
