Team Tennis in August was a tremendous success and we're following it up with the club favorite tournament, MIXED DOUBLES.  NorCal still thinks that Mixed should be played in January, but we know that SEPTEMBER is the best month for outstanding Mixed competition.

Here's how MVTC runs it's tournaments:

  • Signup as a team or individually (we'll try to get a partner for you) and non-members are welcome
  • Main and Consolation rounds, so you'll play at least two matches (max of three)
  • Continental breakfast and a delicious lunch at Noon!

Please specify if you wish to play "up" in the comments section of the sign-up form. If you have a doubles partner, please fill out the information for Partner 2 in the signup form. If you need a partner, just indicate the rating desired for Partner 2.

The hardest thing you have to do is signup!

See who's signed up already!

In case of rain, call the MVTC message center at 650-964-6224

Draws

On behalf of George Koo, the September Tournament Director, and myself, Kathy Wheeler...

We've got some good news and some bad news.

The good news: we have three levels of 8 teams each.  This is the max we can have and have a reasonable one day tournament.

This is how we placed you... George and I did a top to bottom ranking and then divided it in thirds.  This means that there are going to be a couple of teams who are unhappy because they think they should be playing up or playing down...  Let me know, if you have an issue, AFTER you look at the draw sheets.  If a team that wants to play down can be replaced by a team that wants to play up... we'll accomodate!

Alas, this tournament had a lot of single guys signing up for the tournament.  I really tried, but I have not found dates for the some of the players.
I'm sure it's nothing personal :-)
Normally, there are last minute withdrawals, so if you are in this category and can find a date, then you might still be able to sneak into the tournament.  If I hear from a woman interested in playing, I'll let you know.

Details:
Those with 8:30 start times: be checked in by 8:15 or your team will be penalized one game.  We'll send out court assignments for the 8:30 matches on Friday night.
Bring your entry fees.  No $, No play.
The matches will be best of three, regular scoring and 10 pt tie break in lieu of a third set.  The championship matches participants can decide on STB or Full Third.
If you want to contribute food, you are welcome to bring something.  Continental breakfast and we'll have Togo's sandwiches for lunch (salad, fruit, dessert).
The pdf's for the draws are two pages: Main and Consolation.
If there is a change in the draw sheet, I'll resend and we'll post this one online.

Thanks,
Kathy Wheeler and George Koo
