The team philosophy will be to play the best available teams for each match till we are eliminated from playoff contention . So, there is possibility that some players will not get to play. However, the team philosophy may change if we do not have enough strong players to form a team with a chance of winning the league championship.

Players on the team must be a paid up member of MVTC, show good sportsmanship and exhibit constructive behavior toward their playing partners. Otherwise, as the captain, I reserve the right to bench or drop players not meeting these criteria.

If you agree to the team philosophy and player criteria, you are welcome to join the team. You may bring your own partner if he/she agrees to the team philosophy and meets the player criteria.

MOUNTAIN VIEW TC/RENGSTORFF PK M3.5A

To be competitive have fun and improve our tennis skills.

MOUNTAIN VIEW TC/RENGSTORFF PK M4.0A (l'Avatar)

Qiao Chen

While we will compete hard by maximizing the potential of each player, we also realize that many of us play in USTA simply because we enjoy playing competitive tennis in a team environment. Getting into sectional or national is a goal, but not the ultimate one. A player's play time is dependent on practice participation, rapport with other players, scheduling availability, willingness to play alternate, and relative strengths and weaknesses as compared to the opponent of a given match.

MOUNTAIN VIEW TC/RENGSTORFF PK M4.0B

Dana Wyse / Louis Hsiao

We are running a competitive team in which we will play the top players, as determined by ladder play, until we are eliminated from the play-offs.

MOUNTAIN VIEW TC/RENGSTORFF PK M4.5A (Taggers!)

Tony Serksnis / Paul Chen

Taggers will strike that beautiful balance between great fun and trying to make playoffs -- lineups decided by demonstrated skill level and chance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How can I determine my rating?

A. NTRP, National Tennis Rating Program, is a classification program that identifies and describes levels of tennis ability. The NTRP is used to assure equitable competition in USA League tennis. There used to be three kinds of NTRP ratings: self ratings, visual ratings, and computer ratings.

USTA NorCal has moved to Self Rating in place of the traditional Visual Rating Sessions. New NorCal players, and players with expired ratings will be the first to participate in this new program. They will enter the program by rating themselves using the NTRP General and Specific Characteristics of Various Playing Levels. Visual and computer ratings involve the United States Tennis Association (USTA). Year-end computer ratings are generated annually after playing two USTA league matches in a season. For more information on the rating system, please click here to go to the USTA Norcal web site.

PLEASE NOTE: If you don't have a current, valid rating, either self-rating or computer generated, you will need to rate yourself. If you don't know whether or not you have a valid rating, the NORCAL website will prompt you when you try to register for a team. You will need to follow the guidelines and all is self-explanatory for you to successfully rate yourself. For additional info Self-Rating info on the Norcal Tennis web site click here.

Q. How do I join a USTA league team?

A. To participate on a MVTC-sponsored USTA team, you must be a MVTC club member, a member of USTA and have a current computer, or self rating. Players cover the costs of their USTA membership, team registration, balls, court rental, and other expenses. If you have further questions regarding joining a MVTC-sponsored USTA team, please contact the .

Q. If I am an eligible MVTC member, can I play on any MVTC sponsored USTA team?

A. Teams are prohibited from preventing players from joining their teams. Players should be permitted to join any team at their respective USTA level. Team captains should determine the team philosophy and players should join teams accordingly.
